This is the question Lancaster Fun Palace makers get asked more than any other… and it’s a difficult one to answer! Essentially, a Fun Palace is anything its makers and community want it to be. There were over 400 Fun Palaces around the world in 2018 and all were individual, though there are some family resemblances.
All fun palaces are a celebration of arts, sciences, craft, technology, community and more.
Fun Palaces are all: free, local, for all ages, inclusive, hands-on and part of a campaign for culture at the heart of community.
Fun Palaces celebrate the genius in everyone and believe that everyone is an artist and everyone is a scientist.
